The British Connemara Pony Breeders Society held it’s annual in hand show on Sunday July 22nd at Warwickshire Agri College in Moreton, Morrell. The supreme champion of the show was the grey 7 year old mare Rosscon Windy Lady ex Laerkens Cascade Dawn and out of the mare Winnie. She is bred by Mr P. J Watson from Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Ireland and owned by Mr Noel Noonan of Manor Connemara Pony Stud Ardbear, Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland. Standing reserve champion on the day was the 11 year old stallion Lecarrow King bred by Miss Evelyn Nee from Ballyconneely, Co. Galway, Ireland and owned by Miss Henrietta Knight of Lockinge Connemara Ponies, Wantage, Oxon, OX12 8QF, England. The young stock champion on the day was the dun 2 year old gelding Chilham Persuasion by Castle Comet ex Walstead Purdy, he was owned bred and exhibited by Vanessa Compton from Newball, Lincoln, England. Reserve young stock champion was the 2 year old filly Kingstown Dora sire Linsfort Barney and dam the 2008 Clifden supreme champion Kingstown Dana. This filly is bred by Malachy Gorham of Kingstown Connemara Ponies, Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland, and owned by Mrs J.G. Parry from Dinarth Hall Farm, Rhos on Sea, Colwyn Bay, ll28 4PX, Wales. Interesting from the Connemara pony sales point of view, both the supreme and reserve champions were sold through the Clifden sales in the past.
